<p>Sydney based AA members<strong> Peter McAllum </strong>and <strong>Matthew Hyde</strong> are currently treading the boards at the New Theatre in Newton in the play<strong> Canary</strong>. Pete <em>(below, left, with Caleb Alloway)</em> plays a number of roles (including UK anti-smut campaigner Mary Whitehouse!) in this powerful piece that is being performed as part of Sydney&#8217;s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.</p>
<p>Written by acclaimed UK playwright Jonathan Harvey, <strong>Canary</strong> is a love story spanning five decades &#8230; a fantastical journey across the landscape of modern gay history.</p>

<p>Her performance was placed 2nd in the Judges Choice.</p>
<p>And another play in which she appeared, <strong>Three In One</strong>, took out 1st Place in the Peoples Choice category.</p>

<p>The Nine Network kicks off the 2011 Australian television ratings year with its season of three new <strong>Underbelly Files</strong> telemovies with <strong>Tell Them Lucifer Was Here</strong>, the tragic story of the 1998 murders of Victoria Police officers Rod Miller and Gary Silk &#8230; and the incredible four year investigation by the Lormier Task Force to bring the murderers to justice.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s the worlds biggest short play festival and a whole bunch of Actors Australia members are involved including <strong>Brigid O&#8217;Sullivan</strong> and <strong>Ali Aitken</strong>.</p>

<p>Opening on January 6 with <strong>A Midsummer Night&#8217;s Dream</strong> and then <strong>Romeo and Juliet</strong> on Saturday January 8th, the Festival runs for eight weeks. It is held on the Glebe Foreshore which is a magical location, ideal for wonderful picnics before the show starts. It features a huge cast including Actors Australia member <strong>Roger Smith</strong>.</p>
